So, it’s almost time for “Man of Steel” and I am really excited!!! I can’t wait, but unfortunately we all have to wait to see it. So, until then – why don’t you watch this special?
Thanks to Fuck Yeah: Lois Lane for posting this video!

Thanks to Fuck Yeah: Lois Lane for posting this video!
“It’s more raw, a little less quippy. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the banter and the relationship between Lois and Clark, but it’s a totally new imagining of the story. I was shaking by the end of it. I realized that I hadn’t seen a film with that much action in it since Avatar, so it overwhelmed my adrenal system. Not that it’s all just action, but it is a lot of fun.”
Okay so there is no “Man of Steel” Animated Series coming up. But it could be cool – but only if they DON’T do it like this.
So, The HUB made this video to promote a marathon they are about to do tomorrow. They DID use the actual actors from Superman: The Animated Series and it is kinda cool. Still, it reads like so many other videos released on Youtube – werid. And even though they re-recorded the actors saying the lines from the promo, it reads as if they just slapped the audio on the pictures. The tone & the words just don’t fit. It’s neither the Animated Series nor Man of Steel – it’s their bastard son and it kinda sucks.
Which is a shame because of one of my favorite actresses to play Lois Lane is Dana Delany. In many ways, when I think of Lois Lane – it’s her that I think of. But her version of Lois just isn’t the woman we all saw in the promos. They are two very different people. And it doesn’t work. Of course, this also applies to almost everyone else in this promo. Their version of the characters don’t match the tone & style of Man of Steel. They are alien to the piece and it makes it laughable.
If that was what The Hub was going for, then great!!! They done it!!!! It’s funny as all hell. But if they were trying to seriously tie in The Animated Series to Man of Steel, then they failed – BIG TIME!!!!! They just aren’t in the same universe. And nothing you can do will change that.
That being said, I am glad to hear Dana Delany reprise the role of Lois Lane again. I would love to see her take on Lois again in a new form. Without – perhaps – Tim Daly. There are just so many better Superman/Clark Kent/Kal-el’s out there that we don’t really need him. Luckily, DC has gotten that message with their Animated Movies and it’s been a long time since he’s played Superman. I just wish that they didn’t also throw out Delany at the same time.
Oh well, I do like the “new” Lois Lanes. It gives me hope that one day I could play her in Animated Form.

This one needs very little from me. So, why don’t I shut up and let you enjoy the interview?

So, we are reaching the grand finale! Instead of posting something more about the “Man of Steel,” why don’t I torture you with “Superman Returns?” I am that evil. Yup, you are so going to enjoy this!!!! It’s Everything Wrong With Superman Returns In 6 Minutes Or Less.
Now you should know that I HATE this movie – A LOT!!! But I did actually buy the audiobook. It was out of morbid fascination, but hey I did do it. Which told me what I wanted to know: The Audiobook is better than the movie, but only in the part before you get the movie stuff. Don’t believe me? Well, just take my word for it:
Superman Returns is better than the movie that it follows. I thought this novel started quite strong but petered out to a dull roar. I will provably listen again to Kal-Els journey to Earth and his journey back to Krypton. These are the only, truly original parts of the novel and they truly shine. The rest of it is a slightly-improved version of what you saw on the Silver Screen. It is sad, because I had hoped for a different ending over what happened in the movie. That is not what happened.
The novel improves to the movie in three ways: First, baby Kal-Els journey to Earth. Followed by Supermans Return to Krypton. Which explain what happened. Finally, you get right inside the heads of the major characters and can understand why things happened the way they did. They are nice additions to the story and make it more approachable for people who are not well versed in what happened in the Superman Movies.
However, there are some major flaws with this novel. These flaws are the same flaws that plagued the movie. First, Lex Luthor has all the knowledge of the known universes and all he thinks of to do with it is make land? This is not the Lex Luthor I love to hate. Was it necessary to bring him back like this? Why did Superman leave in the first place? The novel attempts to explain why, but just seems like a plot device over a true reason for him to leave. And why is Lois Lane NOT with Superman? It has become an integral part of the story of Superman. Its like not having Mary Jane end up with Peter Parker; it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. If he loved her so much, why didnt he stay?
It is a shame that this novel is not better than it is. It is still worth a listen, but it will not be something you will cherish forever.

“I think our Lois is a little feistier and stronger. I think both characters are more realistic to us, to society now. Clark to me was always too good to really relate to. He was a little too much this perfect boy scout, and although Lois was feisty and strong she was still always the one being rescued. Not to say that she doesn’t get rescued in our movie, but she rescues him right back, in so many other ways… She saves him.” -Deborah Snyder (MOS Producer)
What perfect words – “She Saves Him.” And in a way, she does. She inspires him, gives him hope, and provides a place for him to belong. And despite being “Superman’s lover” she continues being awesome. That is – if the story is written right. Lois isn’t the kind of girl to sit back and wait. She’s going to go out there and kick some ass. So what that Superman’s not there? She’s fuckin’ Lois Lane bitches!!! She’ll get the job done!
“Lois is central because she’s Clark’s hero. She’s audacious. Irrepressible. Superman might catch that meteor to protect Ma and Pa and Jimmy, but Lois is the reserve when all other fuel is depleted. She’s the fire behind the heat vision. She teaches him something new every day, about humanity, about shrugging off the perceived limitations of the individual in pursuit of social justice. She’s as much a crusader as Batman, but she doesn’t need to hide behind a mask.”
While I have never been fully able to articulate exactly why I LOVE Lois Lane so much, this quote comes close. She is my idol. She is my hero. She is the person that I would like to be the most. If only I was really her . . .

if you don’t think lois lane saved superman, then you’re missing the point
So, since the movie came out (and possibly a tad before) there has been a lot of Fan Art posted to Fuck Yeah! Lois Lane and related sites. Now instead of re-posting each image in separate posts, I am going to lump them together. This doesn’t reduce their value – just the number of posts it takes to get them out. Which is nice considering this ISN’T a Superman or Lois Lane related blog. It’s a everything Alley like blog. Which is almost the same thing . . . DAMMIT!!!!
And Finally . . .
So, that’s the best of “Man of Steel” Fan Art that I have found so far. There is a lot more of general Superman art, but not as much for “Man of Steel.” However, I am sure that if given time there will be lots of it. It is the best Live Action Superman Film of all time and possibly one of the best Superman films of all time. So there will be more! We just have to wait.
But what do you think about the film and the art? Let me know in the comments below:
I recently saw this image on Fuck Yeah! Lois lane and I thought: Hey! It’s like one of my stories! Of course, most of my stories of late involve Lois being married and/or having children with Superman which implies that this happened. Even if it is not mentioned. Anyway, take a look at it:
Of course, I don’t really care for the movies from the seventies but I do love this image. It doesn’t hurt that she doesn’t really look like the Lois from that movie. Still, it’s clearly from that world. I think. Then again, maybe it’s not . . .
What do you think?
DC Nation, full of promise and dreams . . . or awesome shorts! So, when Lois Lane popped up on it, y’know I had to mention it! Who knows, maybe they’ll make a series out of it like they did with Teen Titans Go or not . . . Either way, it’s classic Lois Lane:
BTW: DC, get on that Lois Lane series . . .
As you all already know: I love fan art. GOOD FAN ART! And I like to showcase it when it appears. So, today I plan to do exactly that. So, without further ado, allow me to present this re-imagined piece:
Source: Fuck Yeah! Lois Lane
Now you may notice that these pictures look a lot like something familiar. And that because it looks like this image:
Which BTW isn’t fan art. It is a sketch by Joe Shuster. Technically, it’s not Lois but Joanne Siegel the wife of his best friend and co-creator of Superman. She was his model for Lois Lane. So, I guess she kinda is Lois too. (Source)
Anyway, I like these new fan art versions of this sketch. It’s clear that these were re-drawn from scratch and changes were even made. For instance, her eyes are now open, there is a sense of lighting now, and everything is just much more clean. This image is clearly intended to be shown to the public. Unlike the original, which was just a reference sketch. Finally, there are two versions of this new drawing – one with color, one without. And while it is not amazing, it is nice to see. The artist tried to make something new and I like that. It’s not perfect, but it is nice improvement over the original. And for that alone, it will be joining permanent collection of fan art.
What do you think about these new drawings? Let me know in the comments below:
So, I know that I post about Lois Lane – A LOT!!!! But that’s because I love her so much!!!!!!! And I know that I repost a lot of what Fuck Yeah!
